Financial Help for Former Members of the MilitaryDirect Support Pack Parachute Charity is a new organization with limited funding, but depending on how good our director has been about raising money this month, we may have one-time assistance available for low income, former members of the military in Washington State with MST We cannot promise to always have money or the amount you need because we rely on donations from people like you who have already won their claim, and from other people who are interested in helping those with MST. So for right now the money isn’t assured. Call us or email us if you’re having trouble making rent, or need winter coats for the kids, or whatever your need is, and we’ll see if you qualify. Even if we can’t get you any money, you have other sources of assistance available to you that we can help you access. So give us a call! We promise we don’t bite. Other SupportIf you don’t qualify for our above criteria for direct support (or if we’re out of money this month and have none to give you) but you are having trouble financially, our advocates would like to do what they can to assist you. (Currently we can only offer this help to Washington State residents but we’re working as fast as we can to expand.) Financial compensation from the VA The most important source of financial support available to you if you experienced MST and have ongoing emotional issues as a result is financial compensation from the VA. Here we show you step-by-step how to file a claim for compensation yourself. Or call or email us and one of our advocates will work with you until you win your claim. (This is a really big part of what we do, and we are just waiting to hear from you.) More organizations and money There are so many other organizations waiting to help you out too, and our advocates can help you access them. Whether you need a ride to the VA (did you know anyone with MST can get free medical and mental healthcare related to your MST??), or just someone to sit beside you while you fill out those five-zillion pieces of red tape for DSHS (our director had to get someone fill out her food stamps paperwork for her), we'd like to help. So if you’ve been thinking about doing these things, but just haven’t gotten around to it, give us a call and let us do it for you. Some of us also remember not being willing to ask for help, and we encourage you to even just call us and talk, because we’ve been there too. We here at Pack Parachute Charity think that having a safe place to express your feelings – whether through counselors, psychiatrists, ministers, or trusted friends – is the best route to recovery. We know how difficult things can be, and we will do what we can if you need us. |
